Belem Bakery specializes in portuguese custard tarts (pasteis de nata / pasteis de belem), cakes and savouries made from ingredients that ensure products superior in appearance and taste.
Belem Bakery has built its reputation on quality and service. Originally established in 1989 as Moreland Bakery with over 30 years experience in the wholesale bakery business has made Belem Bakery the premier wholesale Portuguese bakery in Melbourne.
The family business was created in 1989 when Alexandre and Linda Lopes opened the Moreland Bakery in Brunswick. In 1997 they moved to Toorak Road , Burwood where they started the retail and wholesale business, The Magical Munch Bar. With their son Alex and daughter Andrea they established a highly successful business with much praise including two pieces in the respected Epicure magazine (The Age) for their outstanding authentic Portuguese custard tarts. After 10 years of successful and wholesale trading at the Magical Munch Bar the family decided to concentrate on creating a fully fledged Portuguese wholesale bakery.
Now under the leadership of daughter Andrea and son Alex. the tradition now continues into its third generation.
Presently located in Mill Park the Lopes family has invested heavily in the premises and equipment to continue to provide the highest quality product to the customer.
